Children, Second-Hand Smoke and Flu

This recent development sorta’ comes under the heading “no duh”: an actual medical study has shown that children hospitalized with influenza are more likely to need intensive care and have a longer hospital stay if they’ve been exposed to second-hand smoke at home.

Treating Cough in Infants, Children and Teens

A cough is a marvelous mechanism designed to protect the lower respiratory tract from inhalation of food or foreign matter.

It is also the prime mechanism for clearing secretions out of the lungs when the natural ciliary function is compromised by acute or chronic infections.
